Big 12 football survey: Players weigh in on conference's best QB, best and worst uniforms and more

A few days ago at Big 12 Football Media Days in Dallas, The Oklahoman surveyed 29 players, polling them on a variety of subjects. Here are some of their answers.

Big 12 football is many things other than highflying offenses and suspect defenses. Players, coaches, fans, students, mascots, marching bands. All kinds of people make up the fabric of Middle America football that is manifested on autumn Saturdays.

A few days ago at Big 12 Football Media Days in Dallas, The Oklahoman surveyed 29 players, polling them on a variety of subjects.

“Casey Pachall. I saw what he did last year, and being out for a while I know he's going to be really anxious to get going.” — KSU player

“All of them. Every week, we're getting scored on, so I think they're all pretty good.” — TCU player

“I'm going to have to go with Ash just because of experience.” — Texas player

“To be honest, I don't even know who everyone's quarterback is. Did the kid from Baylor come back? No? Landry Jones is gone. I really don't know, to be honest. A lot of people lost quarterbacks. I didn't even think about that.” — OSU player

“I know the Big 12 is where stars are born at quarterback, but I really can't tell you. We'll just have to see when the season starts.” — Texas player

“Clint Chelf. He is definitely very accurate, can read a defense. I think he's going to do a good job this year.” — KSU player

“Coach Gundy. Just the way he prepares his guys week in and week out. They're always going to come ready to play regardless.” — Kansas player

“Bob Stoops. I could see myself playing at Oklahoma, the way he coaches his team, his swag. I love Bob Stoops the best. He probably doesn't know me, but Bob Stoops.” — KSU player

“Texas. It's new and big. Even though you're a visitor sometimes, you feel comfortable.” — Baylor player

“West Virginia and Oklahoma State. I like Oklahoma State because it was just right there. It was right there on you. They were just crazy out there (at West Virginia).” — TCU player

“Oklahoma. It's nuts. It's huge and they're fans get into it. That was a fun experience there last time.” — Tech player

“I really like to play at Iowa State. It was just really cool, everyone was right there. The fans were so passionate. I thought it was cool that they had a lot of fans sitting on the hill.” — Kansas player

“Oklahoma State. The game atmosphere is unreal in there. The electricity, the fans; just how they're all right there on top of you. It's a fun place to play. Even though we lost and that stunk, I still had a blast playing in that ballgame.” — KSU player
