Storms chances will linger Tuesday morning in central Oklahoma before the afternoon heats up, the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures will be near 94 degrees with a heat index up to 101 degrees, the weather service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 101. South wind 6 to 8 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy with a low around 73. Calm wind becoming north, northeast 5 to 8 mph in the evening.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 103. Northeast wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 72. East wind 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 94. East, northeast wind 6 to 13 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 75.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 95.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 75.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 96.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 74.
