Award-winning Christian artist Chris Tomlin will bring his “Burning Lights Tour” to Oklahoma City Thursday, Oct. 3 at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the venue announced today.
Tomlin is touring in support of his latest album, “Burning Lights,” which in January became just the fourth contemporary Christian album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to a news release.
Tickets for the concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday and can be purchased at the Chesapeake Energy Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (800) 745-3000 and online at ChesapeakeArena.com.
Tomlin has dedicated his career to a singular pursuit: to bring people closer to God. A winner of a Grammy and 21 Dove awards, he embodies something rare in popular music. On his latest album, “Burning Lights,” he not only hits the mark for deep substance, but also delivers lean, muscular songs that exert a magnetic pop pull.
Tomlin has achieved global scope that moved Time magazine to proclaim him, “likely the most often sung artist anywhere.” It’s estimated that more than 40 million men, women and children sing Chris Tomlin songs each week.
His success has continued on the road, where he’s been a part of 17 major national and international tours since 2004. The 2011 “And If Our God Is For Us … Tour” drew 125,000 fans across the country. Second shows were added in three cities and sold out shortly after they were announced.
Joining Tomlin in Oklahoma City will be Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta. Giglio is the founder of Passion Conferences, a movement gathering college-aged young people in events across the United States and around the globe. Together with his wife Shelley, Giglio desires to inspire this generation to live for what matters most.
