Oklahoma State football: Cowboys get 2014 commitment from Jenks safety Dylan Harding

Dylan Harding always wanted to remain in Oklahoma.

When Oklahoma State offered Wednesday, it didn't take long for him to commit.

Five minutes after receiving an offer from the school, the Jenks safety made his pledge to the Cowboys.

“They've been with me since recruiting started,” Harding told The Oklahoman. “I stayed with them.

“It's always been a dream to go play for a program in Oklahoma like that.”

Harding, at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, had more than 10 scholarship offers, including Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa State, North Carolina, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Washington and Tulsa.

He is a two-star prospect, according to, and a three-star prospect by Harding is also ranked No. 15 on The Oklahoman's Super 30 recruit rankings for 2014.

Harding said the Cowboys view him as a safety or hybrid linebacker, depending on his weight. He has been working to add weight all summer, and has risen from 180 pounds to his current weight.

In June, Harding unofficially visited Oklahoma State. He said he ran a 4.35 and a 4.4 40-yard dash while there, and at the time was hoping for an offer.

OSU safeties coach Tim Duffie made the official offer Wednesday.

“I think it's the best opportunity for me,” Harding said.

Harding gives OSU four commitments from Oklahoma. Broken Arrow running back Devon Thomas and linebacker Gyasi Akem and Tulsa Washington defensive end Jordan Brailford have all committed.

He is the first safety commitment for the 2014 class, though commitments from athletes Ramon Richards and Trevion Roberts are being recruited as defensive backs. The Cowboys also have a commitment from cornerback Juwan Offray.
