COOP announces release date for F5 IPA cans

Nick Trougakos Published: August 1, 2013

It’s been the beer release that’s been keeping Oklahoma craft beer fans on the edge of their seats for more than a year. Now, perfectly timed on IPA Day, I can report that a release date has been set for COOP F5 IPA cans. That date is Aug. 12.

COOP made the announcement this afternoon. They’ll celebrate the release with a party at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at The Wedge on Western. Here is some more information from COOP:

The COOP Ale Works team is inundated daily with questions, but there is one that is clearly the most popular. When will F5 IPA be available in a package smaller than a keg? While some people can justify buying their favorite IPA in a keg, most cannot, and are constantly dreaming of a shiny green can from COOP.

The wait is over. F5 IPA cans will be released to the masses on Monday, August 12th.

“Releasing our best-selling draft beer in a can has been in our plans for more than a year,” said JD Merryweather, one of COOP’s co-founders who leads the sales and marketing team. “Our production capabilities have recently been expanded with the purchase of two new fermenters and the addition of a new state of the art canning system. F5 IPA is one of the highest rated IPAs in the region, and Oklahomans continue to surprise us by their insatiable demand for this beer. We’re excited about what this will do for the landscape of craft beer in Oklahoma and how it will shape COOP’s future.”

F5 IPA is an American IPA with a straightforward malt body and distinctive bouquet of Columbus and Falconer’s Flight hops that impart citrus, grapefruit and pine notes characteristic of the West Coast style.

This new release will be available in 4-packs of 16oz cans at liquor stores, restaurants and bars throughout Oklahoma. On Tuesday, August 13th at 7:00pm, COOP and Yelp will host an F5 IPA can launch party at The Wedge Pizzeria at 4709 N. Western Avenue. Please join us to say hello to your new best friend and stay tuned for more exciting news from COOP Ale Works over the next four months. Cheers!
