Reporter laid off mid-scoop, passes it along to the competition Published: August 1, 2013

Until earlier today Bobby Allyn was a courts reporter for The Tennessean, a Gannett newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee. Allyn was laid off by the paper while reporting on a restraining order against rock star and Nashville resident Jack White.

He promptly took the scoop with him over to Nashville City Paper, a free weekly newspaper and The Tennessean's direct print competitor, where it was posted to their website at 4:55 p.m.
