This week, we launched a new Instagram account.

It’s called News_OK, and it’s designed to focus on what do every day at The Oklahoman and NewsOK.com — sharing what we are covering and participating in what Oklahomans are talking about.

In launching this Instgram account, we wanted push the #MyOklahoma hashtag that’s already been used over the past several months on Instagram.

We hope Instagram users in our community will participate along with us.

The details are on this page:

Use the hashtag #MyOklahoma to share your photos with us and showcase why you live in and love Oklahoma. We’ll select several photos to run in the paper during Labor Day weekend.

We’ve already seen a great response — better than I expected, actually. But news web editor Tiffany Gibson is not surprised. She knew all along that we get great feedback from the Instrgram community.

But you don”t have to use Instagram to share your #MyOklahoma image with us. You can use the same hashtag on Twitter or on Facebook. We’re monitoring all the platforms with two goals in mind.

  1. Because it’s great social media fun.
  2. Because it will make for some great pages in The Oklahoman in early September.

And if you just aren’t going to participate in social media, you can still share your #MyOklahoma image. Just upload your image through the form on the page.

We hope you will share your favorite views of our community.

Here are some that have already been shared on Instagram:
