A Presbyterian congregation that has evolved over the past several years is taking another step in its evolution.

Connecting Point Presbyterian Church, formerly known as Greystone Presbyterian, will break ground on a new building Sunday on its property on Rockwell, between Memorial Road and NW 150.

The church's senior pastor, the Rev. Timothy Blodgett, 33, said the groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the evening, with refreshments and music to follow afterward.

Blodgett said the ceremony is one more step in the congregation's plans to serve and grow in the Deer Creek area.

Blodgett and his congregation, worshipping together as Greystone Presbyterian, voted in 2010 to sell their church building and property at 8300 Greystone Ave. to neighboring Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Drive. The Catholic church, headed by the Rev. Rick Stansberry, planned to demolish the Presbyterian church structure to make way for the expansion of Christ the King's private Christian school.

Blodgett and his congregation had their last service in the Greystone building in March 2011. The Catholic church demolished the building in 2012. By then, the Greystone members had changed the church's name to Connecting Point and had begun meeting for worship at Deer Creek Elementary School.
