NORMAN — Sophomore cornerback Cortez Johnson and junior defensive tackle Chuka Ndulue will both miss the 2013 season opener against Louisiana-Monroe while serving a one-game suspension, Fox Sports Southwest reported Tuesday afternoon.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops didn’t confirm nor deny the report after Tuesday’s practice, saying only that those issues are handled internally.
The suspensions aren’t surprising. Johnson and Ndulue were both arrested within the past year, and arrests have typically resulted in one-game suspensions during the Stoops era.
Johnson was arrested along with wide receiver Jalen Saunders in early December 2012 after the two were pulled over and found to be in possession of marijuana.
Charges against Saunders were later dropped.
Ndulue was arrested in July on a DUI complaint.
