Former Putnam City North offensive lineman and 2011 Oklahoman All-Stater Daniel Burton learned earlier this week that he has won the starting job at offensive guard for the Iowa State Cyclones.

He is one of two redshirt freshmen slated to start for the Cyclones in Saturday’s season opener at home against Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Burton, listed at 6-foot-5, 302 pounds, joins an offensive line that has three returning starters. Iowa State will play two games in Oklahoma this season: at Tulsa Sept. 26 (Thursday night) and at OU Nov. 16. Oklahoma State visits Ames, Iowa, Oct. 26.
