Southwestern (Kan.) at Oklahoma Baptist

What: OBU will play its first varsity football game in 73 years.

Where: Hurt Field on the OBU campus, Shawnee

When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday

Tickets: $20 for reserved bench seats, $10 general admission. Reserved chairback seats and VIP tent tickets are sold out.

All-time series: These schools have met in football — but not since 1939, when OBU pasted the Moundbuilders 53-0. All-time, Southwestern leads the series 4-3.

Scouting report: Southwestern, located in Winfield, was 4-7 last season. The Moundbuilders, who are picked to finish ninth this season in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, have 18 players from Oklahoma on the roster. ... Oklahoma Baptist entered camp with two quarterbacks vying for the starting job, Cale Grauer, a sophomore transfer from Missouri Western, and Blake Woodard, a freshman from Newcastle. Bison coach Chris Jensen said the two-man battle was not a quarterback controversy but more “of a blessing. I'd feel very comfortable putting either one on the field.” Earlier this week, Jensen announced that Grauer won starting assignment, though Woodard would see playing time.

The Oklahoman's prediction: It's a festive day from start to finish. OBU scores late to win historic opener. OBU 23, Southwestern 21.
