UCO LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAM
The University of Central Oklahoma's Wellness Center will offer a variety of fitness programs this fall for community members, faculty, staff and students. The noncredit fitness classes will be taught by certified instructors. “We want to give everyone involved with Central and the surrounding community the opportunity to achieve personal health and fitness from different experiences,” Brittney Criswell, health promotion coordinator, said in a news release. All fitness levels are encouraged to participate in the programs. To register, go to www.ucogroupfitness.com and select “Instructional Programs.” Preregistration is required. FOR OU DANCE
The University of Oklahoma's School of Dance will hold auditions Sept. 8 for the Saturday Youth Program. Classes are offered in classical ballet and modern dance to students ages 10-18. Sessions will be conducted by the School of Dance faculty. Registration and auditions will take place at OU 's Fine Arts Center, 563 Elm Ave. Registration will begin at 1:15 p.m. Students ages 10-12 must have a minimum of two years of training and currently be enrolled in at least two dance classes each week at a local school of dance. Students who are 13-18 must have four years of previous training and currently be enrolled in at least three weekly dance classes. The Saturday Youth Program was created more than 20 years ago by School of Dance Director Mary Margaret Holt as a community outreach effort. The program begins Sept. 21 and concludes Nov. 23.
