Despite Forgan's success, program will go dormant this season due to lack of players.

The most interesting note from Class C might be the Forgan Bulldogs not playing football this season. An undefeated regular season in 2012 and a trip to the state championship wasn't enough to keep the program going.

“It is simply a matter of not having enough players,” coach Todd Kerr said. The school's principal said they have been approved for a co-op with Beaver, and the kids that want to play will still have an opportunity to do so there.

KNOCKING ON THE DOOR

Sharon-Mutual's only loss of the regular season last year was to Forgan in week 2. Otherwise, the Trojans reeled off four shutouts and only allowed six points in a game four times.

A big reason for the Trojans' defensive success is John Custar. The fourth-year starter recorded 28 tackles for loss last season. With a handful of colleges in Oklahoma keeping their eyes on Custar, look for those numbers to go up in 2013.

“We're going to have a strong defensive line,” coach Chris Syms said. Syms said they weren't changing much of anything from last season, hoping the experience will only add to their success.

The Trojans, now favorites to win the district title, will try to improve on last season's average of 9.7 points allowed per game.
