Edmond Santa Fe coach Lance Manning said star quarterback Justice Hansen’s hamstring is improving, but he is still day-to-day entering Thursday’s season opener against Midwest City.
Hansen, an Oklahoma commitment, missed last week’s scrimmage at Putnam City North after aggravating a hamstring injury he suffered in practice during the previous week’s scrimmage against Norman North.
The plan Thursday is for Hansen to play, though he could be limited.
“He’s a lot better. He’s healing,” Manning said. “We feel good about him the rest of the season.
“He’s planning on being back, he’s throwing well and moving well. We just don’t want to rush it.”
Santa Fe has played four other quarterbacks besides Hansen in the scrimmages: backup Keaton Torre, Cameron Westbrook and Kaden Mendenhall.
