Tulsa native Bill Hader appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night to talk about his new film “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,” opening Sept. 27; his adventures attending Seth Meyers’ wedding on Martha’s Vineyard; his recent participation in the Comedy Central roast of James Franco; and more.
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member’s visit to Kimmel’s show was going pretty much as expected until he opted to stick around for the second guest of the evening: Richard Simmons.
Now, Hader is a seasoned comedy and improv veteran, but even he was befuddled by the fitness guru’s bizarre behavior, which included sitting on Hader’s lap, attempting to give the reluctant comedian a lap dance, sprawling on Kimmel’s desk, spontaneously singing and, finally, stripping to a leotard, donning a wig and finishing the interview dressed as a woman. Hader’s loses it when Simmons decides to lick Kimmels’ words off one of the cue cards, and he asks “what’s going on?” more than once during Simmons’ shenanigans. The former “SNL” standout’s facial expressions kind of say it all during the Simmons outrageous segments.
I’m willing to bet that from now on, Hader will just say no to sticking around for the second guest on these late-night talk shows:
