As the title track to her 2009 album indicates, Carrie Underwood knows how to “Play on when you’re losing the game/Play on ’cause you’re gonna make mistakes.” Like wearing five-inch heels with a long-tailed shirt.
During a Thursday night concert in Corpus Christi, Texas, the Checotah native was performing her hit “Undo It” and doing her signature high-stepping dance when her high heel got caught in her shirt hem and sent her plopping to the stage floor. She kept right on singing, but apparently did some damage to her foot.
She took it all in stride, so to speak, joking with fans about it on Twitter (@carrieunderwood) and even retweeting a fan’s Instagram video of her fall.
“Hey, remember that time in Corpus Christi when that girl busted her butt on stage?! Hilarious! Oh wait, that was me! #5inchheels #klutz,” she tweeted. She then added, “I can’t move my toes. Is that bad?”
She later assured fans on Twitter, “Good news, it’s not broken…AND I got some new footwear!,” posting a picture of her leg in an orthopedic boot.
To a fan who tweeted “Bet you’ll never wear that shirt again,” she replied, “No, ’cause its got a hole in it now from my heel!”
And when famous pal Brad Paisley took to Twitter to tease her about being drunk, she replied, “You know I don’t drink on stage! I’m uncoordinated enough as it is!”
Hopefully, Carrie will be back on both feet soon.
