"Today is going to be a scorcher!" Area forecast discussion, National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office

National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office area forecast discussion at 10:43 a.m. for Saturday: “Temperatures are on the rise rapidly today, and with the current trend, expect we may top out a couple of degrees higher than previously forecast. Therefore, have nudged maximum temperatures up just a bit, especially across northern quarter of Oklahoma from Ponca City westward to Enid and Woodward. Here, temperatures should exceed 100 degrees by mid- to -late afternoon. With the heating of the day and a fair amount of moisture over southern parts of Oklahoma and north Texas, still believe a chance exists for a few showers and a stray storm or two, mainly in the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. window. If you have outdoor plans today, enjoy the festivities and make sure you drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun as much as possible, today is going to be a scorcher!”
