NORMAN — Oklahoma junior left tackle Tyrus Thompson will practice Monday, coach Bob Stoops said, and his status for this week’s game against Tulsa will be determined from there.
Thompson was injured late in the fourth quarter of last weekend’s 16-7 win over West Virginia. A source told The Oklahoman that X-rays on Thompson’s ankle were negative, and it’s believed he suffered a high-ankle sprain.
Should Thompson be unavailable for the Tulsa game, right tackle Daryl Williams would likely switch to the left side of the line. Candidates to start at right tackle include senior guard Bronson Irwin, who has been working at tackle and started all 13 games last year, junior-college transfer Josiah St. John and sophomore Derek Farniok.
