Elk City native Jimmy Webb releases today his latest album “Still Within the Sound of My Voice,” featuring appearances from 14 guest artists, including Lyle Lovett, Carly Simon, Keith Urban, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Joe Cocker, Marc Cohn, America, Kris Kristofferson, Amy Grant, Brian Wilson and Art Garfunkel.

“Still Within the Sound of My Voice” is now streaming exclusively on American Songwriter and Out today on One Music, the 14-song LP follows his critically acclaimed 2010 release, “Just Across the River.”

Webb recently performed at MacArthur Park to honor the 45th anniversary of the song, for which he was featured on the cover of The Los Angeles Times. He will continue to tour throughout the summer, and he will play a home-state show Oct. 12-13 at Oklahoma City’s Blue Door.

Webb says in a news release, “’Still Within The Sound Of My Voice’ continues the sensual rediscovery of living through and fully realizing the potential joy in the recording experience. This is a brother and sisterhood of like-minded people sparing nothing for the love of the recording and passing that experience on to the listener.” Webb’s songwriting prowess and love of the craft has earned him the position of chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

As previously reported, Webb was recently announced as one of the 2013 inductees into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. He will be officially inducted Oct. 15 at a concert and ceremony at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.

Webb, 67, is the only recording artist to ever receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics and orchestration. The Elk City native is best known for penning classic hits for Glen Campbell (“By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston”), Richard Harris (“MacArthur Park,” “Didn’t We”), The Fifth Dimension (“Up, Up and Away”) and many others. He is already a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.

Webb remains a strong force in the music business and is joined on this record once again by longtime producer, Fred Mollin. Of the recording, Mollin explains in the release, “We came back to the scene of the crime of ‘Just Across The River’ in Nashville, and I used the same team of assassins to surround Jimmy with the most soulful musical virtuosity, allowing Jimmy’s roots-of Americana voice to ring true. Jimmy was born in Oklahoma, and this record continues our adventures in giving Jimmy a homecoming with Americana, country, folk and even bluegrass infused in his incomparable songs. This album is an event, and one that both Jimmy and I are deeply proud.”

“Still Within the Sound of My Voice” was recorded in Nashville. Jimmy Webb was accompanied in the studio by Matt Rollings (piano, wurlitzer, organ, synth), Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin), John Willis(acoustic guitars, electric guitars, banjo), Pat Buchanan (electric guitars)Larry Paxton (bass), Greg Morrow (drums), Stuart Duncan (fiddle, mandolin), Jeff Taylor (accordion), and Paul Franklin (steel guitar, dobro).
