Quick guide to No. 4 Deer Creek at No. 7 Shawnee

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 13, 2013 at 7:25 pm •  Published: September 13, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Jim Thorpe Stadium

Radio: KTOK-AM 1000

Last week: Deer Creek 35, Piedmont 3; Shawnee 14, McGuinness 7

Players to watch: Deer Creek — Alec James and Marcus Coleman, LBs. With the play of Shawnee quarterback John Jacobs last week, the Antlers have to get strong play from the linebackers against the dual-threat star.

Shawnee — John Jacobs, QB. He might be the player to watch here until someone proves able to stop him. He scored both TDs in the win against McGuinness last week.

Storylines: Deer Creek — The Antlers weren’t really tested last week so it still remains a mystery how good the new look team really is. Shawnee is a good early test.

Shawnee — Are the Wolves back? Last week’s win against powerful McGuinness turned heads. Can they keep it up against a team many expect to be a top-five contender?

The pick: Shawnee 27, Deer Creek 24
