Jimmy Buffett is making a long-awaited return trip to Tulsa.
The “Margaritaville” singer and his Coral Reefer Band will play at 8 p.m. Dec. 5 at the BOK Center as part of Buffett’s “Songs From St. Somewhere” Tour 2013.
It will be the chief Parrothead’s first performance at the BOK Center, the venue announced today.
“After celebrating our fifth anniversary of the BOK Center, we can’t imagine a better way to kick off another year of concerts than with Jimmy Buffett. It’s been nearly three decades since he played in the state of Oklahoma, so we know Buffett fans are going to be as thrilled as we are with this announcement,” said BOK Center General Manager John Bolton in a news release.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 28. There will be an eight-ticket limit per customer.
Tickets will be available at Tickets.com, all Tickets.com outlets and the venue box office, or customers can charge by phone at (866) 726-5287. Ticket prices subject to applicable fees.
“We are ecstatic that we finally have the opportunity to bring Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band for their long overdue return to Tulsa and their first concert at the BOK Center. Christmas in the Caribbean comes to Tulsa on December 5,” said Bob Roux, the co-president of North America Concerts at Live Nation Entertainment, in the release.
Buffett, 66, recently released a new record, titled “Songs From St. Somewhere,” on Mailboat Records. It debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums the week of Sept. 7. The album, with 15 new songs plus a bonus track, was recorded this spring in various locales, including Key West, Nashville, Miami, St. Barts and London.
“Too Drunk To Karaoke”, the first single, is a duet with Oklahoma country music superstar Toby Keith, and the video was shot in Nashville. Buffett has been performing this song, as well as “I Want To Go Back To Cartagena,” “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Boat” and “Oldest Surfer On The Beach” on the current tour.
