Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity a staple of generosity the past 25 years

Comfortworks joins ClimateMaster in glad tidings for Habitat.

ClimateMaster Inc. celebrated its 300th donation to Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity the other day. Some folks mistook that to mean that Habitat had just built its 300th house.

Ah, no: Central Oklahoma Habitat has built more than 700 houses to sell with interest-free loans the past 25 years.

Also: Lost in the coverage was the commitment of Comfortworks, which installs the ClimateMaster geothermal heating and cooling systems and has helped show that entry-level housing construction can accommodate geothermal.

“There's a great sense of pride in knowing that you've done something impactful like this, helping those in tough economic times be able to secure a safe, reliable and affordable place to live, and also be in a home that operates as efficiently as possible,” said Chris Ellis, Comfortworks president. “Adding geothermal heating and cooling into the affordable housing model can provide the benefit of significant energy savings, which means more money in the homeowner's pocket for household necessities like groceries and gas.

“Our work with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity really shows the economic value of this type of system, particularly in smaller entry-market homes.”

Not just for squares

That's a pun, son, I say, a pun. Get it? Roofing comes in squares — sections of 100 square feet. So let the green balloons fly. Malarkey Roofing Products, which opened a factory here last year at 3400 S Council Road, will be the Spotlight Company in Oklahoma for Manufacturing Day on Oct 4.
