The Oklahoman's Class 2A rankings: Several unbeatens trying to prove themselves

by Scott Wright Published: September 23, 2013

There were a few losses handed to top 10 teams in Class 2A, but not much that warranted a lot of movement in the poll.

Hennessey lost at Class 3A No. 2 Kingfisher, and thus didn’t drop from its No. 5 spot. Adair lost to top-ranked Millwood and slipped one spot, but that was more because of Nowata’s third straight impressive defensive performance. The Ironmen have been just that on defense, allowing only 26 points total so far.

Washington lost to Bethany, an unranked but talented 3A team, but held its spot because its 2-1 record against a tough schedule is still stronger than what many other teams have done in the non-district portion of the season.

But the Warriors shouldn’t feel too safe. There are several 3-0 teams — Dibble, Chisholm, Meeker, Crooked Oak and Hugo among them — working to prove their worth and overtake a top-10 spot. So there could be a change in line soon as those teams begin to strengthen their resume.

Here’s The Oklahoman’s new Class 2A top 10:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Millwood, 3-0 (1)
2. Davis, 3-0 (2)
3. OCS, 2-1 (3)
4. Vian, 3-0 (4)
5. Hennessey, 2-1 (5)
6. Commerce, 3-0 (6)
7. Stroud, 2-1 (7)
8. Nowata, 3-0 (9)
9. Adair, 2-1 (8)
10. Washington, 2-1 (10)
Dropped out: None
