Piedmont softball has power surge

by Jacob Unruh Published: September 27, 2013

Piedmont has been hitting the ball out of the ballpark at an impressive rate this season with 37 team home runs.

“If I would have had this in ’07, we would have been state champions,” Piedmont coach Rick Scott joked. “Of course we could put a bunt down back then. We struggle with the bunt now, but we’re hitting the ball well.”

Six different players have hit homers for the Wildcats, with Bre Davis leading the way with 11.

Michelle Brandon follows with 10, while Kassidy Scott has nine. Logan Simunek, Madison Morris and Courtney Anderson have three, three and one, respectively.

Piedmont (20-7) has already clinched a home playoff spot in its first season in Class 5A\.
