Guide to No. 2 Guthrie at Guymon

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 27, 2013 at 9:15 am •  Published: September 27, 2013

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Guymon High School

Records: Guthrie 3-0; Guymon 0-3

Last week: Guthrie 36, Enid 16; Hugoton, Kan. 52, Guymon 17

Players to watch: Guthrie — Donovan Jordan, WR. The speedy receiver doesn’t have huge numbers through three games — nine catches, 156 yards and two TDs — but as district play continues his role will increase.

Guymon — Jacob Watson, QB. He led the Tigers’ first offensive touchdown drive of the season last week when he completed a 38-yard pass to Alex Zakrzewicz to set up a 5-yard score by Matthew Mallard.

Storylines: Guthrie — Surviving the trip. It’s a long ride to Guymon for the Bluejays. They shouldn’t have much issue with the inexperienced Tigers, but coming out healthy will be key.

Guymon — Continue to build. Coach Mike Taylor was pleased with how his team progressed in the second half last week. It’s something they can build on moving forward.

The pick: Guthrie 49, Guymon 7
