Hennessey quarterback Dylan Hatchel will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and damaged lateral meniscus, the Enid News and Eagle reports.
Hatchel, a senior, suffered the injury in the third quarter during the Eagles’ 31-0 loss against Kingfisher last week.
He had an MRI on Monday and received the results on Wednesday.
“I just made a cut, and when I did my knee just gave,” Hatchel told the newspaper. “My knee, it was just completely out of place, I had no strength to push back off of it. I remember feeling it pop. … It scared me at first. I pretty much knew when I heard it that something wasn’t good, something wasn’t right.”
Hatchel accounted for eight touchdowns and was the Eagles’ leading rusher through three games.
Junior Tony Mendoza will replace Hatchel the remainder of the season. Hennessey hosts Tulsa NOAH on Friday.
