Guide to Crooked Oak at No. 3 OCS

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 27, 2013 at 1:35 pm •  Published: September 27, 2013

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Oklahoma Christian School

Records: Crooked Oak 3-0; OCS 2-1

Last week: Crooked Oak 35, John Marshall 29; OCS 33, Jones 19

Players to watch: Crooked Oak — Shauntrel Skanes, QB. Skanes had a big week for the Ruf-Nex last week by rallying them to a big victory and 3-0 start to the season. He runs the option well and can throw at the opportune time.

OCS — Luke Frankfort, RB/LB. Frankfort led the Saints in tackles last season and already has 11 through three games. He and the rest of the linebackers will be key in slowing down Crooked Oak’s rushing attack.

Storylines: Crooked Oak — A 3-0 start is great and shows the program is improving, but OCS is a real test for the Ruf-Nex. How will they respond against one of the state’s top teams?

OCS — Defense has been winning the games for OCS this season, a change from the offense carrying it last season. The Saints are fast and will have to match the speed of Crooked Oak.

Bonus: I wrote in today’s paper about the unconventional rise of the OCS program. You can read that here.

The pick: OCS 35, Crooked Oak 21
