Senior running back Damien Williams was Oklahoma's top running back last season, but has gotten off to a slower start in 2013.

He was suspended for the Sooners' home win over Tulsa two weeks ago, but returned to action against Notre Dame on Saturday, rushing for 42 yards on nine carries, which included an 11-yard touchdown early in the first quarter.

Q: A lot was made about you guys only rushing for 15 yards against this team last year. How different did today feel?

As a running back, (last year's performance) is disrespectful to me. We want to go out there and run the ball, so that's what we have to do. We came out here and established the run, and that was our game plan.

After missing the Tulsa game, how was it to be back out there on the field?

It felt great, missing the Tulsa game but coming out here and being able to play a big part in this game, get a touchdown. It felt good being back out here on the field.

When the defense picks off two passes so quickly like that and you get a 14-0 lead, how much does that help set the tone for the rest of the game?

It's great, but you know, you have four quarters to play. As you saw, they kept coming back, coming back, you know we were able to play all four quarters, and that's exactly what talked about all week.
