Clinton running back Marquiz Simpkins is back to work after a standout sophomore season in which he helped the Red Tornadoes to a Class 4A state title.
Now a junior, Simpkins has rushed for 776 yards on just 52 carries — an average of 15.2 yards per rush and 194.0 per game — during second-ranked Clinton's 3-1 start, adding another big day in the 46-14 win over rival Weatherford in Friday's district opener.
And Class 4A's No. 1 team, Wagoner, is getting another impressive season from senior Lawrence Evitt, who is averaging 215.8 yards per game for the unbeaten Bulldogs. Evitt rushed for 2,980 yards a year ago, and has 863 and 10 touchdowns through four games this season.

Putnam City West point guard Omega Harris will go into his senior basketball season with his college future already decided.
The 6-foot-3 Harris, who helped the Patriots reach the Class 6A state tournament a year ago, verbally committed to UTEP during an official visit there over the weekend, as first reported by Rivals.com.
