Oklahoma vs. TCU: Two Sooners with something to prove in Saturday's game

NORMAN — Here’s the second of three pregame blogs from Ryan Aber and I. Here, we each present one Oklahoma player with something to prove in Saturday’s game against TCU.

ABER: Tyrus Thompson
It was in this game last year that Thompson drew a personal foul penalty when he threw a punch at TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga. Thompson’s actions didn’t lead to a suspension and there haven’t been any repeats of that ugly scene. This season, Thompson moved to the left guard spot that has been a steady line to the NFL in recent years. Thompson has been solid in the position up front and needs to continue to protect Blake Bell.

KERSEY: Damien Williams
Williams rushed for 115 yards, which included a 66-yard touchdown run, against TCU last season. But so far this year, Williams has taken a back seat to Brennan Clay in the Sooners’ running back pecking order. He was suspended for the Tulsa game, but returned against Notre Dame and played well, scoring a touchdown. The Horned Frogs have allowed only 59 total rushing yards in their last two games, so Williams — and all the running backs, for that matter — might have his work cut out for him.
