When: 7 p.m., Friday
Where: Carl Albert High School
Records: Guthrie 5-0, 2-0 District 5A-2; Carl Albert 4-1, 2-0
Players to watch: Guthrie — Kai Callins, RB. Callins may arguably be the best player on the field. He’s shown that his surgically repaired knee is healthy, rushing for 668 yards and 15 touchdowns so far.
Carl Albert — Stevie Thompson, QB. He may also arguably be the best player on the field. Thompson has rushed for 12 touchdowns and thrown three and has been electric the past two games, leading the Titans past both Deer Creek and McGuinness.
Storylines: Guthrie — This is the first real test for the Bluejays this season, with the first five games being against opponents with a combined record of 4-20. Guthrie has taken care of business during that stretch and this game could come down to the final possession.
Carl Albert — Keep the ball away from the Bluejays. The Titans are a run-first team and will have to remain successful doing that. Limit the amount of times a player like Callins can touch the ball, and the Titans increase their chance to go 3-0 against last season’s top teams in the district.
The pick: Carl Albert 24, Guthrie 21
