On Thursday night, the Minnesota Lynx finished off a relatively easy 3-0 sweep of the Atlanta Dream to win the WNBA title.
And Monica Wright, Kevin Durant’s fiancée, played a big role in Minnesota’s championship push, averaging 24 minutes and 11.3 points off the bench during the series, including a crucial 20-point, five-rebound performance in Game 1.
After Thunder practice on Friday, Durant expressed a sincere level of happiness for Wright when asked about the championship feat, before taking a minor jab at himself.
“Unbelievable,” Durant said of Wright’s achievement. “I’m excited for her, proud of her for helping her team win a championship. It’s kind of tears of joy, I almost shed one for her. She’s my future wife and she’s got more championships than I do.”
