The BBC2 hit drama “The Fall” makes its North American DVD debut Oct. 15 and it’s perfect Halloween season timing since it’s a chilling take on the serial killer genre.
Released from Acorn, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. brand (AcornOnline.com), “The Fall, Series 1″ stars Emmy and Golden Globe winner Gillian Anderson (“The X Files,” “Bleak House”) as British detective Stella Gibson and Jamie Dornan (“Once Upon a Time,” “Marie Antoinette”) as the serial killer she’s been requested to track down in Belfast, Ireland.
Written by Allan Cubitt (“Murphy’s Law,” “Prime Suspect 2″), the five episodes of “The Fall, Series 1″ are compelling and creepy as viewers are let in from the beginning on who the killer is and are able to see how his everyday life is as well as his murderous activities.
Knowing who the killer is right off the bat takes nothing away from this story at all, especially since Dornan is phenomenal at portraying the complexities of his character, Paul Spector.
Anderson is also fascinating to watch as she plays the tough and unyielding Gibson, and I’m looking forward to more of “The Fall,” as it has been picked up for another season. Series 1 debuted on BBC2 last May.
Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife,” “Bend It Like Beckham”), John Lynch (“Hard Times,” “In the Name of the Father”), Laura Donnelly (“Merlin”) and Michael McElhatton (“Game of Thrones”) are also among the cast of “The Fall, Series 1.”
If you’re in the mood for some spooky viewing, I recommend “The Fall.”
