Eric Wenger, 42, has been director of Oklahoma City's Public Works Department for two years. He leads a department with nearly 400 employees and an annual budget of $79 million.

Education: Bachelor of science in civil engineering, University of Oklahoma.

Experience: Joined Oklahoma City as a junior civil engineer, May 1994. With the city ever since, except during a brief stint as a staff engineer, Johnson & Associates.

Certifications: Registered professional engineer; member, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association.

Honors: Oklahoma City employee of the year, 1995; Forty Under 40, 2005.

Responsibilities: Oversees Public Works Department, 2007 general obligation bond issue projects (mostly streets) and downtown's Project 180 streetscapes initiative.

Fun fact: Wenger is a champion radio-controlled model airplane pilot.
