High school football roundup: Dupree Young runs for 304 yards, six TDs during Norman victory

The senior running back scored from 24, 25, 19, 60, 51 and 8 yards as the Tigers outlast Choctaw, 49-31.

Senior running back Dupree Young collected 304 yards and six touchdowns Friday night, and Norman outlasted Choctaw 49-31 in a District 6A-4 football game.

Young had TD runs of 24, 25, 19, 60, 51 and 8 yards to help the visiting Tigers improve to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in district. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder carried the ball 30 times, averaging 10.1 yards per rush.

Jonah Llanusa's 6-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Rapp and Jacob McMullen's 57-yard field goal gave Choctaw (3-3, 1-2) at 10-7 lead in the first quarter. Norman came back and took the lead for good on back-to-back TD runs from Young. Norman led 28-17 at halftime.

Llanusa finished 19 of 27 for 321 yards and three touchdowns passing.

The teams combined for 20 penalties for 200 yards.

JAGS HOLD OFF PUTNAM CITY

Bryson Lee's 8-yard touchdown pass to Jake Dyer in the second quarter turned out to be the winner, and Class 6A's No. 5-ranked Westmoore edged Putnam City 16-14 at Putnam City Stadium.

Lee and Dyer hooked up from 37 yards in the first quarter to give the Jaguars an early 7-0 lead. Westmoore (6-0 overall, 3-0 District 6A-2) led 10-0 a short time later after Austin Dodd's 28-yard field goal.

Putnam City (2-4, 0-3) led 14-13 in the second quarter behind JaVon Knox's 4- and 3-yard touchdown runs. But the Jaguars, who host top-ranked Jenks next Friday at Moore Stadium, came back to take the lead for good before halftime.

NEECE LEADS CASHION TO WIN

Receiver Joe Neece caught seven passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns as Cashion routed Maysville, 54-20. Neece caught 62- and 74-yard TD passes from Matt Harman to help the Wildcats move to 4-2. Dylan Kordelski added 5-, 3- and 7-yard touchdown runs for Cashion, which had the game in hand by halftime.

JACOBS POWERS SHAWNEE

Shawnee quarterback John Jacobs threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Wolves whipped Skiatook, 42-7. Dillon Dutton added two TD runs in the first half to help Shawnee (4-2) take a 21-0 lead into halftime. The Shawnee offense rolled up 440 yards, including 287 by rush.

QUEEN SCORES THREE TDs

Dylan Queen had three touchdown runs to lead Harrah past Mannford, 35-16. Queen ran for 3- and 46-yard TDs in the first quarter and added 7-yarder in the third to help the Panthers improve to 4-2.

HORNS HOOK ST. MARY

The Jones Longhorns recovered from an early deficit to beat Mount St. Mary, 43-10.

Donavan Martin's 17-yard touchdown pass to Malcolm Davis gave St. Mary (2-4) a 7-0 lead. But Jones (3-3) answered with two second-quarter TD passes from Clayton Simms. Both went to Levi Fox from 13 and 12 yards. The pair hooked up again for a 27-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
