Oklahoma singer/songwriter John Fullbright, who hails from Bearden, was recently featured on eTown, a weekly radio broadcast.
During his first visit to eTown, the Grammy nominee showed off his powerful country/rock sound.
The 25-year-old Americana/folk musician and blues vocalist has been compared to the likes of Woody Guthrie.
Fullbright also collaborated with the show’s other guest, Canadian indie artist Afie Jurvanen, performing under the moniker “Bahamas.”
Self-taught on guitar, Jurvanen has worked with such musicians as Feist, Howie Beck, and Jason Collett, and shares an intimate collection stripped-down acoustic songs.
Blue Door owner Greg Johnson tells me that Fullbright will join fellow Oklahoma native Jimmy Webb for a song during Webb’s shows at 8 p.m. today and Sunday at the legendary Oklahoma City listening room. Fullbright is known for covering one of my favorite Webb songs, “If You See Me Getting Smaller.”
