UPDATE: Rain moving into central Oklahoma Monday

Showers are expecgted in central Oklahoma Monday. Winds will gust up to 23 mph, the National Weather Service reports.

6:40 a.m. Light rain is developing and is moving into the Oklahoma City area. Rain is expected to start in the next one to two hours. Motorists are encouraged to use caution during their morning commute, the National Weather Service reports. Check NewsOK.com for weather updates.

5:30 a.m. There is an 80 percent chance for showers in central Oklahoma Monday, the National Weather Service reports.

Winds will gust up to 23 mph with a high temperature near 70 degrees. Heaviest rainfall is expected southeast of Interstate 44, the weather service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Monday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 70. South, southeast wind 10 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Monday night: Showers and thunderstorms mainly before 1 a.m. Low around 57. South wind 8 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy then gradually becoming mostly sunny with a high near 63. North wind 15 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.
