MIAMI, OK — An Ottawa County police chief was arrested Monday on a domestic violence complaint, authorities said Tuesday.
North Miami Police Chief Kevin Joe Sheppard was arrested by the Miami Police Department after his former girlfriend reported she and Sheppard were arguing and he pushed her down. While falling, the former girlfriend hit her head on a table corner, according to a statement released by the Miami Police Department.
No charges have been filed.
The woman told police she recently attempted to end the relationship, the news release states.
An emergency protective order was granted against Sheppard on Tuesday. He is free on $5,000 bail, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
