This morning the temperature dipped t0 26.6 degrees at Kenton in the far western Oklahoma Panhandle. And temperatures in central Oklahoma included a low temperature of 33.2 degrees at El Reno, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet weather network. Three of the four Mesonet sites in Oklahoma County recorded low temperatures in the 30s this morning – 38 degrees at Oklahoma City- East and Spencer and 39 degrees at Oklahoma City – West.

A look at Mesonet weather history (since 1994) shows that on this date, Oct. 17, Webbers Falls had a high of 93 degrees in 2005 and Miami had a low of 27 degrees in 2002.
The National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office’s “Thunderstorm Outlook” for “Friday through Wednesday” shows, “An isolated thunderstorm or two will be possible on Friday across southwest Oklahoma and western, north Texas as a disturbance moves through the Southern Plains. No severe thunderstorms are expected.”
The “Other Hazardous Weather” notes that, “Frost will be possible Saturday morning across parts of northern and central Oklahoma. Freezing temperatures may also occur at a few locations in northern Oklahoma Saturday morning. Be prepared to possibly have to take steps to protect sensitive and tender vegetation.”
