State volleyball tournaments: Players to watch for Classes 6A and 5A

Edmond Memorial's Gillian Howlett and Christian Heritage's Chloe Strickland are among the metro-area players to watch in the Class 5A and 6A volleyball tournaments.

Here are a few metro-area players to watch in the Class 5A and 6A volleyball tournaments, which will be played Friday and Saturday in the Tulsa area.

Class 6A

Gillian Howlett, Edmond Memorial

Howlett, a senior, is joined by talented juniors Kelsi Hughes and Livi Schiffner in the Bulldogs' powerful lineup.

Hannah Rose Frohling, Edmond North

The talented young sophomore shines on offense while Rachel Manriquez anchors the Huskies' defense.

Amy Serowski, Southmoore

A four-year starter and leader, Serowski leads the team in most major statistical categories.

Jordan Spence, Edmond Santa Fe

The junior leads the team in kills and has developed into one of the state's most dominant players in the middle as Santa Fe enters the tournament as the 6A favorite.

Morgan Wheatley, Stillwater

Wheatley and Maggie Ireton hold down the middle for Stillwater, which prides itself on being a balanced team.

Class 5A

Bradi Ryan, Heritage Hall

An experienced and reliable player, whether she's attacking or playing defense. Knows how to win, having helped the Chargers to runner-up finishes the last two years.

Chloe Strickland, Christian Heritage

The senior outside hitter is a three-year starter and team leader who has been to the semifinals twice. She will be the key to taking CHA farther this year.

Taylor Turner and Jessie Heiden, Deer Creek

Turner and Heiden bring senior leadership to a young team boosted by sophomores Morgan Turner and Hanna Hulse.
