Scouting Iowa State

Record: 1-5 overall, 0-3 Big 12, coming off a 71-7 loss at Baylor on Saturday.

Best player: Senior linebacker Jeremiah George is averaging 11 1/2 tackles a game, continuing a solid tradition at the position. He's also produced 2 1/2 sacks, five pass breakups, and an interception.

The case for Iowa State: Well, we all remember what happened the last time the Cowboys went to Ames as a big favorite. The Cyclones always play better at home and have again this season, although they're 0-3 at Jack Trice Stadium. All were tight, including a 27-21 loss to Iowa and a 31-30 setback against Texas.

The case against Iowa State: This Cyclones team doesn't have any one thing to hang its hat on, like the recent squads. And the blowout loss in Waco could prove to be deflating.
