The Oklahoman's Class C rankings: Cherokee making its case for No. 1

A change atop Class C could be on the horizon.

Cherokee has yet to give up a point this season, building a case for that top spot. For this week, Tipton is still in the No. 1 slot, but Cherokee is making it tougher and tougher to ignore them. Cherokee has a couple of impressive wins, but the difference isn’t significant enough just yet to warrant dropping Tipton out of the No. 1 position. But that could change.

There was one other move at the bottom of the poll, with Webbers Falls knocking off Maud. So Webbers Falls moved in and Maud dropped out.

Here’s how The Oklahoman’s Class C poll stands after seven weeks of action:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Tipton, 6-0 (1)
2. Cherokee, 6-0 (2)
3. Sharon-Mutual, 7-0 (3)
4. Thackerville, 6-0 (4)
5. Shattuck, 5-1 (5)
6. Balko, 6-1 (6)
7. Bluejacket, 6-1 (7)
8. Timberlake, 5-2 (8)
9. Arkoma, 5-2 (10)
10. Webbers Falls, 4-2 (NR)
Dropped out: Maud, 4-3 (9)
