Piedmont's Darrius Burris wins fan poll

Piedmont's Darrius Burris ran way in the Fans' Choice City-Area Football Player of the Week poll on NewsOK.com, receiving nearly 50 percent of the vote with a total of 312.

Burris was instrumental in helping Piedmont knock off then-No. 4 Clinton last week, rushing for 224 yards and three touchdowns.

Edmond Memorial running back Warren Wand earned 118 votes to finish second.

Darrius Burris, Piedmont: 312 votes (44.64 pct.)

Warren Wand, Edmond Memorial: 118 votes (16.88 pct.)

Kyle Hokett, Lexington: 107 votes (15.31 pct.)

John Jacobs, Shawnee: 104 votes (14.88 pct.)

John Kolar, Norman North: 43 votes (6.15 pct)

Dunya Rice, Southmoore: 15 votes (2 pct.)

Total: 699 votes
