The Sooners are headed west in 2019.

Oklahoma and UCLA have agreed to a two-game football series in 2018 and 2019, with the Pac-12′s Bruins coming to Norman Sept. 8, 2018 and the Sooners traveling to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., on Sept. 14, 2019.

“We’re delighted to again add UCLA’s tradition-rich program to our schedule,” said OU vice president and director of athletics Joe Castiglione via press release. “Together, we can showcase two great schools in the kind of intersectional matchup that is so good for college sports.”

Castiglione also emphasized that with major college football converting to the College Football Playoff in 2014,  the scheduling of strong non-conference opponents becomes even more important. The OU-UCLA series will ensure that the Sooners continue their recent tradition of tough non-Big 12 scheduling.

Oklahoma has a 3-1 advantage in its all-time series with UCLA,  with the schools' first meeting coming in 1986 — a 38-3 win for the then-No. 1 Sooners over the then-No. 4 Bruins. The Sooners’ other wins came in 1990 (at UCLA, 34-14) and 2003 (in Norman, 59-24). UCLA’s lone win came in 2005 — a 41-24 win in Pasedena.

Oklahoma and LSU are currently working to re-schedule their previously announced home-and-home series. LSU was originally scheduled to play in Norman in 2018 and in Baton Rouge in 2019, but the schools are looking at dates in later years to reschedule those two games.

OU also announced that it has added Akron to its non-conference schedule for 2015. The Sooners and Zips will play for the first time in Norman on Sept. 5, 2015.
