Holiday brunch: Chris Purcell and Donna Hughes entertained at their annual holiday brunch in Norman. This year it was in the Purcell home, which was filled with Santa elves and Santa Clauses. Elf legs decorated the front door. Cream cheese braids, egg casserole and fruitcake were menu items.
Seen: Kim Rainbolt, Candy Reece, Jill Hughes, Becky Barber, Jane Austin, Judi Freyer, Jeary Seikel, Frances Sanger and Susan Bergen were among the 150 guests.
Dinner/dance: Members of the Lotus Club celebrated the holidays with a Christmas dance at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Dave Tanner and his band from Dallas played for dancing. Dinner was spinach salad with blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, filet of beef and seared scallops and chocolate cake served with peppermint ice cream.
Flowers: Centerpieces were white ceramic Christmas trees surrounded by roses, greenery and pine cones.
Guests: Among the 150 people at the party were Candy and Bob Reece, Lindsay and Jeff Graham, Leigh and Nick Bentley, Niki and Bill Puffinbarger and Natalie and Stephen Browne.
CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION
Lobster lunch: Pam Smith and Tina Stubbs were honorees when their birthday club met in the home of Kanela Huff. Big, red lobsters were cooked in lobster pots. Several members brought a special dish, including Barbara Dahnke's mashed potatoes, Judy Lehmbeck's salad dressing and Huff's holiday green beans. Starbuck ornaments and Christmas notepads and pencils were party favors. Lisa Voegeli made Christmas cookies. Hostesses were Brooke Phillips, Huff and Dahnke. Lobster chefs were Sue Magness and Rawsie Boyles.
Ambience: Huff's home was decorated in gold and white with huge magnolias with glittery centers decorating one of the Christmas trees. Trees, Santas, flowers and magnolias decorated most of the surfaces of the home.
Seen: Libby Steakley, Marilyn Torbett, Shari Buxton, Sue Timberlake, Gennie Johnson, Phillips, Magness, Dahnke, Connie Givens, Boyles, Lehmbeck, Smith, Stubbs and Voegeli were at the party.
Occasion: Members of the Mercy Foundation Board were entertained at a holiday buffet at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Dana Gordon and Louise Bennett arranged the party in front of the fireplace. Unique gingerbread houses centered the tables and gingerbread cookies were served with a make-your-own sundae dessert buffet.

KAPPA ALPHA THETAS
Event: Janie and Jon Axton were hosts for the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Christmas party. Janie Axton is Alumnae president.
The look: A 12-foot Christmas tree and three smaller trees were decorated for the holidays. Poinsettias and the Axton's collection of Simpich dolls added to the decor.
Seen: At the party were Sally and Joe Blake, Elizabeth Prosser, Susan and Tom Laster, Amy and David Cottrell, Adelaide and Bill Liedtke, Sue and Phil Ryan, Jennifer and Paul Shadid and Kim and Mike Joseph.
Party: Carey Sue and Ricardo Vega were hosts for a festive Christmas party in their home. Decorations included several Nativity scenes, nutcrackers and the family's snow globe collection.
On the menu: The group enjoyed desserts made by Carey Sue's sister, Audrey Seeliger, which included Christmas sugar cookies, rum balls and fudge, all family recipes that have been shared through the years. Other menu items included beef tenderloin, shrimp, salmon, chicken, bacon bites and Brie with guava.
Takeaway treats: Party favors were homemade spicy pecans.

Luncheon: The Joy Luck Book Club, which was started in 2004, met in the home of Cindy Rice for a Christmas luncheon and book exchange. Everyone brought a salad, and dessert was cranberry plum pudding. The Rice home was decorated for the holidays.
A little history: It is the 10th year for the group. Club members read paperback books and meet monthly to discuss what they have read. The hostess leads the discussion. The late Shirley Cooper was one of the founding members.
