The NBA has banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the league for life.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement at a press conference Tuesday. Silver said the NBA's investigation found that the male voice making racist remarks on leaked audio was of Sterling, the longtime Clippers owner with a past of documented racial discrimination and sexism.
Silver said that Sterling did confirm it was his voice on the recording and “expressed no remorse.”
Sterling will also be fined $2.5 million dollars, and Silver said that the league will push for the sale of the Clippers franchise.
“I fully expect to get the support I need from the NBA owners to remove him,” Silver said.
The official statement from the league can be seen below. What do you think of the ruling?
I completely support NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s decisive action on the Sterling issue. Great leadership and the league is in good hands.— Paul Allen (@PaulGAllen) April 29, 2014
