Oklahoma football: What it's like to be Trevor Knight's brother

by Ryan Aber Published: August 29, 2014

When Trevor Knight committed to Oklahoma, the Sooners got a package deal. His twin brother Connor Knight also joined OU as a walk-on.

Connor, a tight end, earned playing time in five games last year on special teams.

Knight recently spoke to The Oklahoman about the brothers’ decision to play together and what it was like for him to see Trevor’s performance in the Sugar Bowl:

“Trevor and I kind of decided early on that we wanted to play together. He had the opportunity to get the scholarship to a big-time school. He was committed to Texas A&M and I was going to go as a preferred walk-on over there and when he switched his commitment here I got the chance to walk on here. It’s been awesome. We never really thought of going different places. We always wanted to go to the same place.

“Watching him earn the starting position, I kind of took a different role encouraging him through the ups and downs. It’s awesome watching him go out there. I’ve always said I love watching him play and I feel it when he throws a pick and when he gets sacked but also I feel great for him when he throws touchdowns. It kind of feels like I’m doing it.

“It was fantastic watching him have success in the Sugar Bowl. As it was going I kind of pinched myself. ‘Is this a dream?’ Late in the game, looking up in the stands I found my dad and he was probably happier than both of us were but it was awesome.”
