AT&T, Netflix, Rite Aid are big market movers

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE

AT&T Inc., down 60 cents at $28.13

The wireless carrier said it signed up 400,000 customers on contract-based plans, the lowest number in at least five years.

Procter & Gamble Co., down $1.93 at $64.18

The maker of Tide detergent and Gillette shavers said second-quarter net income fell 28 percent from last year.

ProLogis, up $1.17 at $15.87

The industrial real estate investment trust said that it is in talks with rival AMB Property Corp. about combining the two companies.

Quantum Corp., down 58 cents at $3.01

The data-storage company reported third-quarter results that fell short of Wall Street expectations.

Rite Aid Corp., up 17 cents at $1.27

The drugstore operator said revenue at stores open at least one year rose, giving analysts confidence sales will improve.

Nokia Corp., down 17 cents at $10.56

The cell phone maker said net earnings fell 21 percent in the fourth quarter as its competitors took market share away.

NASDAQ

Netflix Inc., up $27.84 at $210.87

Subscribers for the DVD rental and video streaming service topped 20 million during the fourth quarter, above analyst expectations.

Qualcomm Inc., up $3.04 at $54.90

The wireless chip maker said its earnings surged due to high demand for smart phones and tablets running on high-speed data networks.
