Casino chiefs to talk about the state of industry

Associated Press Published: October 3, 2012

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Internet gambling in the U.S. and overseas is expected to remain a hot topic for industry executives during a panel discussion about the state of play in U.S. casinos.

The leaders of several slot and gambling machine makers and Las Vegas-based casino companies MGM Resorts International and Las Vegas Sands Corp. are scheduled to take part in the Wednesday forum during the annual Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas.

American Gambling Association chief Frank Fahrenkopf Jr. said Tuesday that with Congress adjourned until after the Nov. 6 election, it would take "gambler's luck" and hard work to pass an Internet gambling bill this year.

Meanwhile, he says that billions of dollars are being bet worldwide online.

U.S. regulations currently prohibit Internet gambling across state lines.
