Montana defender added to Buchanan watch list

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — University of Montana linebacker Jordan Tripp is one of three players who were added to The Sports Network's 2012 Buck Buchanan Award watch list.

The award is given to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Tripp, a junior from Missoula, has team-highs of 52 tackles, 5.5 stops for losses and two forced fumbles. He is tied for 25th in the FCS with 10.4 tackles per game after missing last season with an injury.

Montana State quarterback DeNarius McGhee is on the watch list for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in FCS. The junior from Euless, Texas, was a finalist for the award in each of the last two seasons.
